Everyone has a bad day at work now and then, but when those bad days start to outnumber the good ones, it’s time to think about looking for a new job.
Making the decision to move on from your current job is a big one, and hopefully one you don’t have to make too often. Making sure the timings right is very important.
If you start feeling any of these five signs, then we reckon it is a good time to think about looking for a new job.
1. Lack of career advancement
The number one reason people leave their jobs is for career advancement. If you have ambition on moving up the career ladder and there’s no sign of you moving forward, and no raise coming your way, (even after discussions with your manager) then the only real conclusion is to look for a new job.
2. Stressed and Unhappy
Maybe the most important sign of all is if your job is stressing you out. If you get anxious, unhappy or find it hard to sleep just thinking about work, that’s a good sign that it’s time to move on. When work starts affecting your health–physical, mental, or both—it’s time to get out. Life is too short to be unhappy!
3. Feeling undervalued
If you’re not made to feel valued at work, then you won’t be performing at your best which is no good for anyone. A great employer would make you feel valued and include you in the company’s journey.
4. Getting Monday blues every day.
You can’t find the passion and drive you used to have when you first started working there? You don’t get along with your boss? You dislike the work?
Waking up with a bad feeling in the pit of your stomach every morning is a clear indication that your current job is no longer a good fit for you.
5. Looking for a Career Change
It’s time for a career change. You have reached a stage where you want a new challenge and a new direction, then it’s time to move on.
If you have reached a stage in your career where you feel like changing jobs, consider the reasons. It is important not to rush into any quick decisions. Ask yourself what exactly it is you are looking for and what you need to do to achieve this.
At Employmint we take the time to understand what you want from a new role and look to ensure that your next placement will fulfil in ways your current job doesn’t.
