Stress at work, is a feeling that people get when they are overloaded and struggling to cope with the demands of the job. It can affect how people think, feel and behave and can be very damaging to their health and wellbeing.

How often do you think ‘I’ve got so much to do, and not enough time to do it?’ This may be true, but the question you need to be asking yourself is ‘What have I got to do today, and what is needed by the end of the week?’
If you write down a list of your workload each day, prioritise the tasks and make them achievable, you will feel more in control of your work.
- Say no
This may be easier said than done, but if are already feeling overloaded, you need to think before committing to added expectations. Saying yes to every request is damaging to your health and your work performance.
Realising your own ability and being able to say no, will help you perform better and prevent burnout.
- Take time out
It is critical to set some work-life boundaries for yourself. Set aside time each day to totally switch off from work; time to relax and unwind. Go for a walk, have a warm bath and spend time with friends and family.
- Think positively
Always try to think positively at work and don’t beat yourself up over little things. Don’t try to be perfect at everything. Recognize that failures don’t define you, they’re just opportunities to learn and grow.

Sleep has important effects on health and well-being. It is important to get a good night’s sleep to reduce and avoid stress. To ensure the proper amount of rest, 7-8 hours’ sleep is recommended. Try to switch off when you go to bed, don’t think too much and disconnect from technology as much as possible.
